Solveig from Norway is 20 YEARS OLD
In 2013-2014 I was an exchange student in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Even though it’s been three years since I was on exchange, I’m still very grateful for everything that I got to experience. I do not think any year has had such a great impact on me, as the 10 months I spent in Aberdeenshire. When you, as a 17 year-old, suddenly find yourself in a completely unknown country, all by yourself (sort of), you are forced to go beyond your comfort zone to make new acquaintances, and hopefully also friends. This made me grow so much as a person and I became more confident in every way. I also got a heap of memories I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I got new friends and a new family on the other side of the pond which I still talk to, and Scotland will always have a very special place in my heart. In short, I had a wonderful, yet challenging year – as you are suppose to and I wouldn’t be without this experience for anything.
